Ok, my appologies – I had some technical difficulties and real life kept me from having much time to blog for a bit. However, I found a book online that for ages I have been saying, “Wow that book I used to have would be absolutely useful to a SecondLife clothing creator…

It is more geared toward sketch artists and painters, but I learned a lot from it ages ago… I hope someone can learn something about the natural physics of clothing from this. I would imagine it would be interesting to those of you who are interested in painting and art as well.

Quite Oh the lazy blogger.

I figured I would take a second to tell you about my friend Quite Oh… who I truly do love and admire (to pick on).

Quite Oh used to hold the number one rated google search for ‘Secondlife Photography’ – partly because I helped her bloat her blog up a little (but I’m not bragging or anything).

I just linked to her and realized she hasnt posted in…! Ok she hasn’t posted since January 3rd. Her blog slipped a little and I just wanted to give her a kick in the butt.

You know I am kidding Quite. Really… can I have a backlink?

Artist in SecondLife.

I have a friend Mina Jameson who was nice enough to send me some sketches she made and let me use them in my blog. A lot of the builders I know in SL are big into art.

I think she is starting a blog on her SecondLife soon. When she does I will be sure to link to her.

Inspire Space Park

This is a pic of Taegan and myself at the Inpire Space Park.

I took this back in January when I first met her. It is a great romantic hangout and she is wearing this dress right now which made me think of it.

There are a lot of fun things to do there – meditate, dance, even orbit around the planets in an embrace.

Texturing tips.

Here is the plane i was working on texturing, a few people have asked me how I made them so uniform.

Here is the secret – layers.

The top layer I created on all of the six textures that make the plane is called ‘shadow’ and the bottom is called ‘base_paint’.  There are layers between are details. When i want to change the color I just change the base layer. When I want to change the markings I change the details.

Pretty simple stuff. Doing the same thing when you make clothes lets you reuse a texture to make hundreds of different colored versions of one shirt.

Starting a new blog…

Starting a new blog is always difficult – but here are three tips I learned the hard way:

1./ Keep your blogs short. Some people try to cram them with junk. If you write well, you can fill a blog in a few minutes a day without carrying on. (Even I am guilty of that – look down).

2./ Laugh at yurself. Lets face it… you’re funny. I laugh at you… especially when you comment on my blog. Then I laugh twice.

3./ Search engines are the… Submit your blog to one search engine or directory every day. Make friends… hey if you want to link to me I bet I want to link to you (well, maybe not… sometimes you scare me). The idea is to build a winning team… so get going!

Ok – so with those tips… I am sure you are a better person (though I have no idea how).

Also… waiting for the search engines takes a bit… ugh… but wait it out and keep blogging.
